Supreme x Burberry Spring 2022 Collaboration
Celebrating the iconic and enduring British luxury fashion house.
Following the release of the Nike SB Dunk High “By Any Means,” Supreme has now unveiled its monumental Spring 2022 collaboration with Burberry.
Back in 1856, 21-year-old former draper’s apprentice Thomas Burberry founded the British luxury fashion house in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Focusing on outerwear, Burberry was founded around the principle that clothing should be designed to protect people from the weather. Drawing from local shepherds’ methods of waterproofing their smocks, Burberry invented gabardine, a lightweight yet hard-wearing weatherproof fabric. The material and Burberry garments quickly became lauded for its protective properties, natural ventilation and durability.
Building on its success, Burberry would go on to outfit explorers and military personnel throughout the early 20th-century. Most notably Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen and his team became the first people to reach the South Pole with a Burberry gabardine tent and clothing in 1911. Other standout names include British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton in Antarctica and British mountaineer George Mallory on Mount Everest. Burberry would also develop weatherproof clothing and accessories for the British Armed Forces, including the Tielocken coat and its successor, the trench coat.
The fashion house would go on to develop its outwear offerings and establish both Ready-to-Wear and accessory ranges. Celebrating the longstanding history of Burberry, Supreme has tapped the iconic name for a special collection for Spring 2022. The collaboration builds on Burberry’s place in modern luxury and place as the most iconic and enduring British label in history. Working closely, the range features a Trench Coat, Down Puffer Jacket, Denim Trucker Jacket, Rugby, Hooded Sweatshirt, Jean, Denim Short and T-Shirt. Along with accessories like a Crusher, 6-Panel and Skateboard that continues themes found in the apparel.
The Supreme x Burberry Spring 2022 collaboration will see a global release, available exclusively via the streetwear imprint’s website on March 10, 11 a.m. EDT in the United States and March 12, 11 a.m. JST in Japan. The 6-Panel and Crusher hats will be available at a later date.
The Leather Track Jacket, Leather Track Pant and Silk Pajama set will be available exclusively from Burberry March 10 (US, UK and Europe) and March 12 in all other markets.
