Off-White™ Joins Church's to Launch "Special Events" Brogue
Reworking the heritage Burwood silhouette from 1953.
Off-White™ has officially launched its debut collaboration with heritage British shoemaker Church’s. The collaborative shoe — personally designed by the late Virgil Abloh — made its debut at the label’s “Spaceship Earth: an Imaginary Experience” show at Paris Fashion Week, and fuses the two brands’ differing identities.
Initially focusing on the Burwood silhouette, which Church’s launched in 1953, Off-White™ has mixed Abloh’s “Question Everything” philosophy with the heritage and tradition of Church’s. The shoe itself is a classic full brogue Oxford, complete with distinctive dovetail patterning. This design has then been given a twist, through the use of black brushed calfskin (in lace of brown suede), and the words “Special Events” screen-printed in white on each shoe’s lateral side. The design is then finished with Off-White™’s signature hangtag.
The Off-White™ c/o Church’s Burwood is the first collaboration between the two brands, and is available now via Off-White™ stores, Church’s locations and the Church’s web store.
