Vans has been on a hot streak lately on the footwear front as it has released collaborations with the likes of BLENDS and Museum of Peace & Quiet, and even given pro-skater Lizzie Armanto her own signature model. The latter is fittingly entitled “The Lizzie” and HYPEBEAST got an exclusive look at the pair at Armanto’s launch event that was held in Los Angeles, CA.

It’s a significant moment for both parties considering that the American-Finnish athlete designed her offering to the exact earth-friendly specs that she wanted, and it’s also the first signature model that’s designed by a woman in the Vans family in two decades. “I’m humbled and honored to have this opportunity. Words don’t do justice to the feeling”, said Armanto. “I’m also just excited knowing that together with the Vans team we have a lot of
cool stuff coming down the road that will expand on everything that this first shoe represents.”

From a birds-eye view, the kicks may just seem like a plain, all-white number, but up-close is where you can really get a feel of the materials and small-yet-effective details such as the sustainable “Marshmallow” uppers, printed interiors, her initials stamped on the tongue banners and the one-pieced foxing. “I’m really proud of the VR3 Checkerboard Globe certification from Vans and this being the first skate shoe at Vans to receive VR3 designation, which stands for renewable, regenerative, and recycled,” she says. “We wanted to work with materials which were as sustainable as possible and also would be able to take the harsh beating skateboarding puts on shoes. Beyond that, the lower profile sidewall and flex grooves make the shoe feel broken in and ready to skate from the second you put it on.”

The Lizzie is now available via Vans for $85 USD alongside matching apparel pieces.

Elsewhere in the world of footwear, Palm Angels has a Vans Sk8-Hi collaboration on the way.
