Eytys' "Blu Rider" Fall 2022 Collection Masters Denim Manipulation and Illusionary Techniques
Everything is not how it seems.
Eytys is becoming a serious contender in the fashion world, and now the Max Schiller-helmed label has served up its Fall 2022 collection that cements the brand as one not to be overlooked. Speaking on the new collection, the Creative Director said, “By challenging the meaning of newness, we found ourselves at the beginning of a journey with a new focus. Rather than reinventing, we base the process on revisiting, reworking and re-energizing past icons.” In short, Eytys’ Fall 2022 collection is a masterful showcase of understanding what your brand does, and doing it better than ever before.
For this collection, the 19th-century Swedish painter Eugène Jansson’s artwork was a heavy source of inspiration, infiltrating the looks with rich blue tones and lots of texture — although it’s not quite what it seems at first. Denim jeans have been lasered to give the effect of bouclé or acid washing, while knitwear is three-dimensional and classic business shirts are now adorned with allover laser slashing.
The subversion continues elsewhere as dresses are made from layers of sport mesh, combining an athletic aesthetic with something fit for a sophisticated night out thanks to the illusionary moaré waves. Trompe-l’œil appears on a 3D knit-effect cropped sweater that appears to be argyle but is in fact just printed, and is completed with an oversized V-neck, while elevating the whole collection is a range of outerwear spanning from leather trenches to soft wool overcoats.
Eytys’ Fall 2022 collection couldn’t have come at a better time — trompe-l’œil and printed denim were big hits on the runway this season, appearing at Glenn Martens’ Diesel and Y/Project, Matthieu Blazy’s denim-finished leather looks at Bottega Veneta, and also at Martine Rose.
