Official Images of the Air Jordan 1 High "Rebellionaire"
Banned X’s adorn the heels and the all-over writing
Michael Jordan‘s illustrious career is replete with stories of game-winning buzzer-beaters, high-flying dunks and even once getting his sneakers banned by the NBA for going against the league’s regulations during his early years as a professional. The latter is being revisited by Jordan Brand once again and conveyed through an entirely new footwear iteration: the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Rebellionaire.” The kicks first surfaced during Fall 2021, but now their official images have finally surfaced.
The overall color scheme may be familiar to Jordan heads as it essentially follows the color-blocking to the “Shadow” 1s with its “Particle Grey” toe boxes, ankle flaps, lower heel overlays and Swooshes while the rest of the base layer’s components are dyed in black. The sentence “They Can’t Stop You From Wearing Them” — an exact phrase from MJ’s iconic 1985 commercial about his shoes is written out in graffiti-esque font across the entire upper, and the lower heels are accessorized with rustic orange X’s to call out the “Banned” motif.
Interested in picking up a pair? European retailers have these scheduled to drop on March 12 while a US launch is expected to follow on March 18. The MSRP for these kicks will be $170 USD.
