Sorayama and Richardson Debut Limited Edition Incense Burner and Soft Goods

Hajime Sorayama is teaming up with Andrew Richardson‘s Richardson brand for a capsule comprised of a limited edition incense burner and apparel items bearing graphics of the Japanese illustrator’s industrial, erotic art.

In the latest capsule, Sorayama reimagines Richardson’s staple Incense Burner with polished metal and details reflecting his flair for biomechanoid structures. Continuing the artist’s hyperrealistic designs are two T-shirts in Black and two sets of hoodies and sweatpants in “Dove Grey” and “Black” colorways with designs incorporating Sorayama’s signature “Sexy Robots.” The items are further decorated with custom renderings of the Richardson logo and glyph.

Sorayama revealed his inspiration from the French painter Gustave Courbet, “I made this sculpture based on Andrew’s request but it has hidden context about my respect to Courbet. This collaboration with Richardson should hook up his attitude to break taboo!”

Priced at a retail price of $10,000 USD, five of the limited edition incense burner will be sold exclusively through Nanzuka Underground in Tokyo; the Richardson x Sorayama apparel will be exclusively available on the Richardson online store and flagship stores in the US from Thursday, February 10, followed by a release in flagship stores in Japan on February 11.
