Expression “One Step Back, Two Steps Forward” Informs Reese Cooper's FW22 Collection
Accompanied by a “Logistics Dept.” capsule collection.
Referencing the testing time we are experiencing, designer Reese Cooper looked to the classic expression, “one step back, two steps forward,” for the Fall/Winter 2022 collection of his eponymous label.
Dubbed “Two Steps Forward,” the seasonal range is comprised of reimagined staples under RCI’s defiant DIY outlook. Originally set to show in Paris at the start of the year, the label was unfortunately stranded in Los Angeles, due to the ongoing pandemic. The designer and his team, affectionately known as the RCI Logistics Department, pivoted towards a livestream of the lookbook photoshoot sharing a candid side of fashion.
Leading the FW22 collection is outerwear like gender-fluid varsity jackets, wide-leg plaid trousers with matching ripstop jackets, along with tailored pleated pants and blazers featuring screen-printed herringbone. The plaid and herringbone patterns were hand-drawn by Cooper himself and accompany a seasonal camo etching from a pine tree with the RCI logo carved into it. The range comes complete with new colorways of the Wilson Boot launched last year and the introduction of a duck boot style, dubbed the “Lanier Boot,” named after Cooper’s time on the shores of Lake Lanier, north of Atlanta.
