LeBron James Shows Off a 1-of-1 Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Kings Of LA”
The kicks come embellished with chess king piece patches on the heels.
Among all of the athletes that are currently under Nike‘s roster, one can make the argument that LeBron James is the brand’s most valuable because of his illustrious career thus far, his global fan base, the fact that he’s based in Los Angeles and more. To show its appreciation for the four-time NBA champion, the Swoosh will often gift him special sneakers, and the latest offering has been revealed: the Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Kings of LA.”
The 1-of-1 shoes are replete with striking details that are influenced by LA and chess. Standing out on the heel’s exterior is a duo of king-piece patches that are dripped in purple and gold to honor the Lakers. The mid-foot panels are designed with a map of the City of Angels, and it’s been elevated with reflective detailing and color-blocked to represent a chessboard. Ankle straps usher in more flair as well as they are decorated with “Chess Not Checkers” and “Love Live The King” notations while the tongues are accessorized with the lyrics “Try to be the king, but the Ace is back!” from Dr. Dre‘s “Still D.R.E.”
It’s been reported that an all-black pair was also crafted and made for rapper Dr. Dre with intentions of him rocking them during his Super Bowl Halftime performance, but the west coast icon decided to go with a simple pair of inline all-black Air Force 1s instead.
