HYPETALKS Will Host Black Fashion Image Makers on Twitter Spaces
Tune in this Friday, February 25, at 8 p.m. ET.
HYPEBEAST is slated to host a HYPETALKS session, titled “Black Fashion Image Makers,” on Twitter Spaces on Friday, February 25.
HYPEBEAST Fashion Editor Avon Dorsey will host the roundtable discussion with a number of industry-shifting Black creatives. On the panel, Ugo Mozie, CL White, Blake Van Putten, Allen Aderotoye, Desyree Nicole and Gabriella Paulino will delve into their career trajectories, expertise and experience with navigating an uneven playing field in the fashion industry.
Ugo Mozie is a go-to style curator for a plethora of top-shelf celebs, publications and fashion brands. Most recently, the self-proclaimed “chief of style” dressed Maluma in a Grayscale coat for the private screening premiere of Marry Me and executed a kaleidoscopic campaign for Versace.
As a stylist and creative consultant, CL White has worked all over Hollywood with stars including Cardi B, Sukihana, Naomi Campbell, Letoya Luckett, Dominique A.R. Jackson and more. In August of 2020, the multi-hyphenate released a line of popular call-to-action T-shirts reading “HIRE BLACK” in an effort to address the lack of Black creatives being hired for lead roles in their fields.
Blake Van Putten’s double-take-worthy handbags have captivated the internet on more than one occasion. Last year, Lizzo sported an all-white iteration of the small top-handle bag featuring a monochromatic embossment of the words “Protect Black People.” Under the imprint CISE, Van Putten most recently debuted his latest designs at New York Fashion Week‘s Black in Fashion Council.
Allen Aderotoye is a New York-based designer seated at the helm of his own menswear label òL, which stands for Outside Lines. The burgeoning creative, whose resume includes stints at adidas, Kith and GAP, showcased his debut collection at Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Wolf of Wall Street penthouse.
After recognizing a lack of size diversity in menswear, Desyree Nicole and Gabriella Paulino joined forces to establish the inclusive, New York-based brand Todd Patrick. With famous fans like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the label’s Cuban-style button-downs and rockstar-approved leather ensembles are swiftly establishing a prominent place in fashion.
