AMBUSH®'s FW22 Collection is Both Nostalgic and Futuristic
Yoon Ahn builds on the AMBUSH® Metaverse.
Taking to Milan Fashion Week, AMBUSH® showcased its Fall/Winter 2022 collection that references our current moment of the world going digital. Building on the label’s existence in the tension between the lived experiences of designer Yoon Ahn and her otherworldly reference points, the seasonal range channels the opposing energies of the physical and imagined worlds.
The FW22 collection sees Yoon continue the AMBUSH® Metaverse exploring the outlook of a retro/future/romantic universe. According to the label, Yoon sees the move into the digital in a unique sense, “the people who wear her clothes and their physical needs. A digital universe needs to be rooted in reality to feel believable, even if you’re building a vessel for celestial travel – here symbolised by a huge sphere in the centre of the runway.”
Showcasing both the nostalgic and futuristic, the white quartz powder lined presentation saw models grace the runway in cartoonish platform shoes and fluffy oversized hats. AMBUSH®’s signature extended silhouettes were accented by squared-shoulder outwear, skinny flared pants and overly long straight leg bottoms for men.
Outerwear leans towards the over-the-top with leather options that range from cropped moto jackets to blazers set off by shearling accents, along with boiler suits and calf coats for a Western appeal. Muted-tone tailoring follows boxy forms with padded vests, fitting tops and dresses to offer a softer expression.
Aside from cosmic-inspired jewellery and carrying options, are new footwear styles marked with AMBUSH®’s “A” chain. Platform shoes for both men and women lead the selection comprised of three-strapped Mary Janes that offer a convertible element, loafers, sneakers and a Nike Air Adjust Force collaboration to be released later this year.
