Gearing up for the start of 2023, several brands have revealed and teased celebratory Lunar New Year capsules. Joining in on the festivities, New Balance is launching eight sneakers that carry the theme. Lacking any distinct references to the festival, off-whites and red accents serve as distinguishing design elements that tie each pair together.

Diving into the range itself, the 2002R leads the way in three new presentations. First, its traditional mixed material build appears in light gray and brown and gray colorways while the brand’s popular “Protection Pack” theme outfits the third pair in several grays. Following this, the 550 sticks to its leather uppers in monochromatic light brown and off-white looks with red New Balance branding at each tongue. Pivoting to the 574, a suede and mesh construction appears in red and off-white colorways with both featuring gray “N” logos. Lastly, the 9060 completes the capsule with creamy layers accented by silver hits, red branding elements and optional red laces.

Look for New Balance’s upcoming Lunar New Year collection to launch via atmos on January 2 with a lottery period beginning on the atmos web store starting December 23. Prices begin at ¥13,750 JPY (approx. $104 USD) for the 574 colorways and go up to ¥22,000 JPY (approx. $167 USD) for the 2002R “Protection Pack.” Stateside, New Balance has scheduled its launch for December 30 with prices beginning at $100 USD and going up to $170 USD.
