Elon Musk Booed for Five Minutes After Being Brought Out By Dave Chappelle
The heavily Silicon Valley crowd was clearly not happy with the new Twitter head.
This past weekend, Dave Chappelle took over the Chase Center in San Francisco for a Sunday night show. Near the end of the night, the comedian took the opportunity to bring Elon Musk on stage offering him a simple introduction, “Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world.”
Met with a mixed reception initially, the boos proceeded to get louder leading the tech magnate to pace and wave awkwardly on stage. The crowd got even louder when Musk tried to speak using a microphone, Chappelle tried to lighten the mood poking fun at the highly publicized firings at Twitter recently. “It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle joked. Adding, “All these people who are booing, and I’m just pointing out the obvious, you have terrible seats,” in an attempt to make Musk feel better about the response, going into another bit to try to win the crowd over.
Eventually, Elon Musk decides to leave the stage offering thanks for getting to come on stage, which was also met with boos. A few more moments passed before Dave Chappelle was forced to call it a night and close out the show. Though another video shows Musk on stage once again and asked to say Chappelle’s catchphrase “I’m rich, b*tch,” which was also met with boos.
It is interesting to note, the show did not allow cell phones into the venue but a viewer was able to sneak their device in to catch the moment.
