Looking ahead to 2023, Jordan Brand has made it clear that the Air Jordan 2 and its low-top counterpart will continue to play a key role in its lineup of launches. In one of many colorways releasing next year to surface via early pairs, the Air Jordan 2 Low joins the Air Jordan 1 High OG in recounting throwback Nike advertisements. In November, a first look at a “Skyline” Air Jordan 1 was connected to the promotional image of Michael Jordan in his Jumpman pose with a Chicago skyline sunset as his backdrop. Now, the Air Jordan 2’s “Look, up in the Air” print campaign from 1987 is referenced with this Air Jordan 2 Low.

At first glance, the sneaker’s white, gray and yellow upper in leather and suede offers a fairly plain look. However, upon closer inspection the sneaker’s purple to blue gradient at its upper’s linework, lavender tongue outline and sky blue lining tell another story. At the sneaker’s sockliner, it becomes clear where its influence stems from. A silhouette of Chicago’s skyline combines with a purple and orange sunset while “LOOK, UP IN THE AIR.” text that has been pulled from the sneaker’s 1987 ad campaign reads prominently in white.

Enjoy a first look at the pair above and stay tuned for official Nike images and release information. As of now, the pair is expected to hit shelves on June 22 via Nike and select retailers at a price of $150 USD.

In other footwear news, the Air Jordan 9 begins its 2023 run in a “Light Olive” colorway launching next month.
