SAALECTION Invokes Healing With SS23 ‘Origin’ Capsule

Where modern cuts and draping merge.

Since its 2020 founding, Salman Al Khalifa and Christine Chau’s, SAALECTION, looks to evolve menswear design through contemporary and pseudo-genderless silhouettes. Now, the London-based emerging label is furthering this mention with its new capsule collection for the Spring/Summer 2023 season.

Titled ‘Origin,’ the capsule is rooted in healing and reconstruction – highlighting the beauty that emerges from this process. Furthermore, the collection’s theme and subsequent design styles meditate on global trauma from the past few years and what moving forward looks like.

In envisioning resilience, the capsule finds power in draping and exaggerated tailored silhouettes from coats to floor-hugging pants. Pieces like a deep tangerine trench coat with a cape alongside a pearl white draped top with elongated sleeves reveal a precise attention to draping’s fluidity. Other collection highlights include russet-colored pants with an oversized pant leg, a fuschia-colored suit with cape sleeves, knitted tops and paneled trousers.

In its execution, the SS23 offering exalts timeless modernity through its forward-thinking silhouettes that are complimented by classic and vibrant hues. Completing the capsule’s picture are pieces like a handcrafted pearl choker/harness and a hand-knitted corset.

Check out the gallery above for a look at the collection. Select pieces from the SS23 ‘Origin’ capsule collection are set to release online in February 2023.
