DRAM Leads With Passion on Third Studio LP 'What Had Happened Was…'
Featuring a guest appearance from BJ The Chicago Kid.
Virginia rapper DRAM has released his third studio album, What Had Happened Was… The project marks his first LP release through his new label WAVER Records, having previously been signed to Atlantic/Empire.
The album follows DRAM’s name change to Shelley FKA DRAM, which doubled as the title of his 2021 LP. For his latest release, however, DRAM has switched back to his original moniker, an acronym for “Does Real-Ass Music.”
Produced by Chiiild, Spiff, Poseidon and more, What Had Happened Was… clocks in at 19 songs across approximately an hour. The album includes just one feature, coming from BJ The Chicago Kid on “PPL.”
Another standout single from the LP is “WHAM!,” which received a music video on Wednesday. DRAM says he can credit “WHAM!” with helping him to pull the entire album together as the first song he made following his mother’s passing.
DRAM’s new album What Had Happened Was… is out for streaming.
In other music news, Rihanna has returned with her second Black Panther track “Born Again.”
