Café Owner Ryan Winter Styles the Levi’s® Gold Tab™ Collection With His Minnesota-Meets-New York Vibe

Ryan Winter is a content creator and proud café owner based in Brooklyn. He hails from Minnesota, so he is no stranger to layering pieces for warmth in cold winters, but he also expresses that his favorite part of creating unique looks is putting together unexpected, high-low elements. As such, the buildable, comfort-forward qualities of the Levi’s® Gold Tab™ collection everyday essentials are the quintessential canvas for Ryan’s creative eye.

He brings his imaginative touch to all of his endeavors, whether it’s styling outfits or coordinating events and pop-ups at his café and bar in Bedford. “In Minnesota, I worked in coffee for about six years and I always wanted to go back to that. This has always been a dream of mine,” he says, “I come from this punk, hardcore, and skateboarding background and I wanted something that was not that, so that’s how my business partner and I landed on the ‘70’s theme of Sweetbee,” (Winter’s Cafe).

These varying influences on Ryan’s upbringing definitely find their way into his eclectic style, which he describes as “Trend informed classics,” he continues, “I’m very firmly in a traditional men’s workwear heritage world. But I also live in Brooklyn, so the question is how can I take these really cool and hearty pieces, but also make them feel modern and relevant in Brooklyn in 2022.”

Ryan’s first look, a black t-shirt, and sweats, layered with a sweatshirt and flannel, is the ideal look for his on-the-go lifestyle. Not only does Ryan run the café, but he also keeps busy with modeling and content creation, so essential pieces that he can add his own personal touch to are preferred. “I can incorporate the Gold Tab™ sweats with other pieces in my wardrobe that are my staples; I’ve got two coats that I live in — my leather moto jacket and this beautiful double-breasted wool overcoat. I can wear this hoodie with that to the gym or to run to the store. I like how I can easily bring my own pieces to this collection,” he says on styling this look.

The second look includes another casual, comfortable t-shirt and sweats combination, inspired by the rich colors of the Nor-Cal landscape. This look is fit for his trips to the gym or relaxing at home, making coffee. A crossbody bag and sunglasses mixes up the look, as Ryan expresses that, “accessories can absolutely elevate any outfit. I wear a few rings, necklaces, and a bracelet every day. This pair of tinted sunglasses are my favorite and I wear them all the time.”

The last look, a red graphic hoodie and navy blue sweatpants, paired with Ryan’s go-to work boots, displays his tendency to lean toward diverging elements for a dynamic look. “There’s so much versatility in these pieces, especially as fashion breaks down so many barriers on all sides at this moment,” he shares, “I could even wear dress pants with this crewneck and a pair of Docs and all of these high and low elements end up working together.”

When asked his best styling advice for those who are looking to expand the scope of their wardrobe, he expresses, “Understanding your body type and how to dress for it is a really simple way to elevate even a really basic outfit.” Along with a grasp on how to dress for your proportions, he also adds that seeing your clothing in a new light can spur new inspiration.

“I’ll have friends come over to my house and we’ll put together outfits with my existing wardrobe because then I can look at my wardrobe with new eyes. Sometimes you just need that outside influence to help see what you have in a new light, which is fun and also the more sustainable option,” says Ryan.
