About six years after the initial announcement, Tesla is finally ready to deliver its first batch of the Semi Truck. The long-awaited plans have finally been put into place and founder and CEO Elon Musk has taken to his favorite social media platform to confirm that production has begun.

The Tesla Semi Truck, which was first announced in November 2017, is slated to make its first delivery to soft drink company Pepsi in December this year. With its new electric transport vehicle, Musk promises that the Semi will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 20 seconds when it is “fully loaded.” The tech mogul also claims that the truck will be able to reach “highway-level speeds even up steep grades.” When it comes to charging, drivers will be able to recharge the truck to 70% of its 300 or 500-mile range in half an hour. Elon Musk also claims on Twitter that the truck is “super fun to drive.”

Prior to 2022, not much news has been revealed regarding the semi truck. However, earlier this May, Tesla began accepting reservations and charging a $20,000 USD deposit for reservations, which were closed in August. When it comes to his consumer-focused Cybertruck, very little has been known about its progress as well. Musk has said to expect deliveries to begin in 2023. As for the Roadster, which was announced alongside the Semi, it continues to be pushed back from 2020 to 2022.

According to Musk’s announcement on Twitter, the Semi Truck may just begin appearing on highways near you starting this December.
