Christopher John Rogers is famed for his colorful approach to fashion. Among a sea of minimalists, he dares to bring the drama through the use of bold hues and blocky patterns. Now, he’s moving from the body to the home and has designed a capsule collection of furniture for the Irish brand Orior, with all of the funds raised from the sales going to charity.

Made up of four chairs, the collection is based on pieces taken from Orior’s archive, each of which dates back to 1979 when they were designed by founder Brian McGuigan. These days, Brian’s son Ciaran leads the brand his parents founded, and was inspired to collaborate with Rogers having seen the waves he’d made in the fashion industry. “I am a massive fan of Christopher’s vision and have been in awe at the incredible mark he has made on American fashion; it’s so exciting for this to be Orior’s first major collaboration with an external designer,” he said.

Each of the four chairs – named André, Lia, Mozart and Pop respectively – has been updated with modern details, and upholstered in fabrics that feature patterns signature to Roger’s body of work. André features the “Combo Wave
Check” print; Mozart is dressed up in “Rainbow Stripe” inspired by one of Rogers’ sweater designs; the wingback Lia chair features the “Gradient Dot” print; and finally, the Arne Jacobsen-inspired Pop chair comes in a mix of the “Rainbow Multi Check” in linen, a black and ivory stripe in cotton, or a Cantaloupe and black check in
printed velvet.

All money made will go directly to Color of Change, a nonprofit civil rights advocacy organization that works to empower Black communities across America. “The emphasis on heritage, family, and craft at Orior very much aligns with our ethos as a brand,” Rogers says. “Being able to support progressive civil rights advocacy with Color of Change is an invaluable bonus.”

Each chair is made to order and can be purchased at Orior’s New York showroom, or online at the brand’s website. In other design news, check out this colorful, chubby furniture from Studio Paolo Ferrari.
