Stepping into the role made famous by Sylvester Stallone is Noah Centineo, who will portray the younger version of the cinematic soldier.

Set during the Vietnam War, John Rambo explores the harrowing events that forged the titular character into an elite, deeply traumatized Green Beret long before he wandered into the small town of Hope, Washington in 1982’s First Blood. Helming the project is director Jalmari Helander, who recently earned massive acclaim for his brutal action hit Sisu. Helander has described the prequel as a stripped-down, gritty survival story focused on endurance, persistence, and the tragic loss of innocence amidst brutal combat.

Joining Centineo in the jungle is David Harbour (Stranger Things), who has been cast as Colonel Samuel R. Trautman.
