Lewis Hamilton and Takashi Murakami Drop Limited-Edition Collaboration
The first-ever collaboration between Hamilton’s +44 brand and Murakami.


Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton officially partners with world-renowned contemporary artist Takashi Murakami on a limited-edition collaboration. The collab is the first time Murakami has partnered with Hamilton’s new creative lab +44.
+44 is founded by Hamilton and garnered much interest after an elusive social media campaign that launched on the brand’s Instagram. +44’s first foray into drop culture sees Hamilton join forces with Murakami, who is globally recognized for his bold and vibrant art pieces greatly inspired by anime and manga. Hamilton has long been on the street style scene, always one to watch when it comes to his fits.
Combining Murakami’s keen eye for design and detail, the capsule collection centers around the “Psychedelic Speed Demon” relative to Hamilton, as Murakami interprets his signature style to match Hamilton’s aesthetic. The collaboration focuses on a dreamy twist to race-inspired graphics and garments, the concept is gives an introspective look at Hamilton’s world in warp speed. Murakami released a statement regarding working with Hamilton, “A few years ago, I was incredibly honoured to hear that Sir Lewis Hamilton visited my art exhibition and was a fan of my work. Needless to say, I was so thrilled to be able to collaborate with him on this collection.” He later praised the multifaceted racer, “He is known for being a creative and inspirational force at everything he puts his hand to and his new creative lab Plus 44 World is no different. We’’ve worked together to make each piece reflective of our shared passion for the unique, psychedelic and a celebration of what makes us all different. Those who know Lewis can expect this collaboration to be a reflection of his unmatched talent.”
Hamilton shared his own words about the Japanese designer, noting their momentous partnership, “I’ve been a huge fan of Murakami’s work for as long as I can remember. He is a true creative genius and visionary, whose work is not only eye-catchingly beautiful, but is deeply rooted and important to Japan’s creative community, international presence and history.” The limited-edition collection features six key pieces including short and long sleeve tees, a hoodie, and a jacket priced between $60 to $200 USD. The drop becomes available starting on October 6 exclusively on Plus44.world.
