Here's How to Get Your Hands On HAL STUDIOS®'s ASICS GEL-1130 "FOREST" Collaboration

Highs and Lows‘ in-house imprint HAL STUDIOS® has a knack for pulling off a must-have collaboration, and some of its best work has been alongside the footwear giant ASICS. In April, the two came together on their first GEL-1130 collaboration, while back in September it was announced that the duo would return to the silhouette with the “FOREST” colorway. Now, we get a closer look and more information about the soon-coming pair.

The label centers much of its work around the concept of “Dream Thinking,” something it describes as “an ongoing conversation, a series of case studies and collaborative projects.” Here, the brand has studied the Shinto shrines of Japan’s dense forests, in turn inspiring the theme of this next GEL-1130.

Maximal minimalism is another approach that HAL STUDIOS® embodies, creating clean shoes that actually have plenty going on. The breathable mesh uppers are found in an exaggeratedly wide knit, contrasting with hairy green suede, brown leather accents, and an “Antique White” midsole unit. A clean color palette it may be, the sneaker is in fact a nod to the Japanese forests as well as retro running aesthetics, with pops of orange ushering in the latter concept.

Naturally, a TRUSSTIC support system offers stability beneath the foot, while GEL cushioning provides all-day comfort. To secure a pair of these limited-edition sneakers, HAL STUDIOS® is opening up a 48-hour window around the world to place advanced orders, commending on October 5 at 4 a.m EDT/9 a.m. BST/10 a.m. CEST/5 p.m. JST/9.30 a.m. HKT/7 p.m. AEDT, which means you have a better chance of securing the shoes and also being given a pair of socks. Despite the ordering opening now, the shoes will not be delivered until Q2, 2023, ahead of the project’s public release.
