GUBI's Fall Collection Illuminates From All Angles
The Danish brand launches lighting aplenty.
If you’re on the hunt for lighting fixtures, GUBI has you covered this season. From floor to ceiling – the Danish brand’s latest collection heavily features illuminating designs, alongside some staple furniture pieces and classic reissues.
A curving floor lamp harking back to the Scandi design of the 70s, a space-age lamp shade, and a glass pendant each feature in GUBI’s fall 2022 collection, and have each been crafted by a handpicked selection of designers. Individually, the pieces ooze a sense of refined minimalism but are made from materials and in colors that ensure a sense of warmth when placed into interior settings.
The Timberline lamp by Mads Caprani, originally designed in the 1970s, features a bentwood swan neck and concertina shade – exemplifying the design codes of the time in which it was created. Since its creation, and in recent times, the lamp has become a coveted piece on the vintage reselling markets, with its form stemming from question marks doodled by Caprani at his desk. A second vintage piece comes in the form of the Semi Pendant – now available in a trio of earthy shades – while a new light fixture has been crafted by Space Copenhagen, which was inspired by light in the reflection of moving water. Aptly named the “Seine Collection”, the studio’s offering comprises a dimmable table lamp, ceiling lamp, and pendant, each one comprising a glass dome and an antique brass base.
Elsewhere, Space Copenhagen has also created a range of large dining tables named the “Private Collection”, which are based on traditional craft techniques used in Japanese joinery combined with modern design codes. Simple in its form, the tables are constructed from four wooden elements – ensuring a sturdy yet minimal look.
