Supermodel Gigi Hadid knows more than a thing or two about fashion, with countless magazine covers and hundreds of runway shows under her belt. After being a prominent figure in the modeling space, she’s branched out to helm a new fashion line – titled Guest In Residence – and has just launched the brand’s Fall/Winter 2022 “Varsity FUNK” collection.

Formed as a brand with a cashmere fabrication focus, the Guest In Residence aesthetic plays with conventional university-oriented gear for its latest capsule collection. Items like basketball shorts, rugby shirts and varsity jackets have all been updated with Hadid’s unique take on men’s and women’s sportswear pieces. Colorways range from citrus orange button-up cardigans, and green topstitched color-blocked sweaters to neutral patchwork pullovers.

Discussing her motivation for creating the line and dropping its new capsule, Hadid exclusively tells Hypebeast: “For the Varsity collection, I wanted to update traditional school items, like varsity jackets, rugby shirts, and basketball shorts, but with my own funky twist and play on colors.”

“I’ve always been interested in taking on the shapes and tailoring from one style and giving it a different life in cashmere with playful colorful twists and unique designs. I’m excited to see how people style the Varsity pieces and make them their own,” Hadid added.

The new Guest In Residence collection is available now with further discovery and item prices listed on the brand’s website.

Elsewhere in fashion, Brooklyn-based jewelry brand Personal Fears crafted unconventional new unisex styles for FW22.
