Canada Goose, Feng Chen Wang and Xu Zhen Champion the Art of Deconstruction for Fall 2022
The collection fuses Wang’s “future-modern” codes and Zhen’s pattern-focused art.
Canada Goose has initiated the launch of its innovative, functional-first collection with Chinese-born, London-based designer Feng Chen Wang and Chinese artist Xu Zhen.
The collaborative Fall/Winter 2022 range envisions Canada Goose’s luxury performance heritage through the lens of Wang’s “future-modern” styles and Zhen’s pattern-heavy conceptual art series “Under Heaven.” The result is an expressive, graphic-heavy lineup intended for seasonal transitions, with versatility at its fore via deconstructable elements.
Here’s proof: the collection’s Sence Blazer, made with recycled windproof fabric, can be worn as a blazer or a vest and includes a removable belt with a detachable pouch. Likewise, the Roebuck Parka, composed of a water-repellent textile intended for extreme conditions, can be styled as either a parka or a vest, with a drawcord at the waist and side zippers for adaptability; and both the Langham and Mercer Down Jackets can be deconstructed into altered silhouettes.
Elsewhere, the range hosts corset-style sweaters with cropped cuts, skirts blending denim with durable, ripstop fabrications, classic jogger pants and high-collared trench coats. The collection also offers Canada Goose’s first-ever collaborative footwear silhouette: a fresh take on the Journey Boots by Wang with denim and hardware donning contrasting tones with a removable upper collar at the mid-calf.
The collection’s arrival is chaperoned by an artistic brand campaign, shot in Toronto, Canada, by William Ukoh and styled by Anders Søelvsten Thomsen, who styled Feng Chen Wang’s Spring/Summer 23 collection at Paris Fashion Week in June. Immersed in backdrops inspired by Zhen’s work, models showcase the collection’s vibrancy, actualizing the impact that the artist’s work has on the range at large.
The Canada Goose x Feng Chen Wang x Xu Zhen will be available to shop beginning October 20 at select Canada Goose retail stores across Asia and on both the Canada Goose and Feng Chen Wang websites. Take a look at the full range in the gallery above.
