In an iconic British union, heritage lifestyle label Barbour and the UK’s largest bike manufacturer Brompton Bicycle have joined forces for a second-edition collaboration. This time, the powerhouse duo injects shared British design cues into a range of jackets, T-shirts and bags, as well as an all-new bike.

Designed for the urban cyclist archetype, the line’s outerwear offerings are performance-ready with a bevy of safety features, including reflective panels and bright fabrics that can be hidden for off-bike leisure. Barbour’s signature wax jacket is reinvented with a detachable hood, cooling airflow vents and mesh panel lining, while a custom fold quilt jacket sports a large patch pocket, ribbed cuffs and reflective tape.

“This collaboration is all about merging the themes of practicality, style and innovation,” said Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear and Accessories at Barbour. “The jackets have been carefully designed to include technical features that ensure that the styles look just as good on the bike as they do when it’s time to dismount and hit the city on foot.”

In partnership with fashion illustrator Fei Wang, the range’s T-shirts don a legion of graphics depicting city bikers. On shades of navy, white and grey, the artist’s work, more regularly recognized under the moniker Mr. Slowboy, appears front and center on each design.

Elsewhere, the special-edition Brompton bike, officially dubbed the Barbour x Brompton C Line Explore, is crafted with a six-gear set-up, an all-weather C17 Brooks saddle and Schwalbe Almotion touring tires. Custom serial plates pay respect to landmark lighthouses located on the coast of South Shields in the North East of England, and gold decals complement an otherwise earth-toned finish.

In closing, the collection serves up a series of bags, each of which is designed for the on-the-go. A 24-liter holdall can be attached to the front of the collaborative bike, as can a new wax city bag, which boasts brass hardware and leather trims.

“The new collection combines the best of Brompton and Barbour drawing on a shared heritage in British manufacturing, design and making products with real purpose; the collaboration celebrates everyday journeys, on and off the Brompton folding bike,” said Will Butler-Adams, CEO of Brompton Bicycle.

The collection is now available to shop on Bromptons’ website. Prices range from £46 GBP to £1,895 GBP. Take a look at the collaboration in the gallery above.
