With the new year on the way, Canadian crooner The Weeknd is showing no signs of stopping. Towards the end of 2021, the singer announced the arrival of his fifth studio album, The Dawn is Coming which was originally teased on YouTube.

The Weeknd has now taken to Instagram to give his fans an update on the project, seemingly teasing fans that he will not be doing an extended rollout and wants to “just drop the whole thing.” He posted a screenshot of his text conversation with the co-founder of XO Records, La Mar Taylor which showed Taylor asking, “Happy New Year brother! What we thinking??” The Weeknd then responded, “Happy new year! Everything feels chaotic again. Music can heal and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let’s just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people… XO.” Taylor’s contact photo can also be seen and appears to allude to this next album motif “Dawn.” The comment sections immediately erupted, with fans evidently sharing their excitement for the imminent release.

The following day, The Weeknd shared another cryptic post of the sun peeking out between trees and the blue sky. He captioned it, “wake up at dawn tomorrow…” which has now led fans to believe that he might be dropping the album this week. There is currently no confirmation about the official album release date. The end of 2021 has been seen The Weeknd hit major milestones. Recently, he celebrated the 10th anniversary of Echoes of Silence with an exclusive Sorayama capsule collection. Check out the two posts below.
