Glenn Martens Will Collaborate With Jean Paul Gaultier on Next Couture Show

Glenn Martens, creative director for both Diesel and Y/Project, has signed on to collaborate with Jean Paul Gaultier for his upcoming couture show.

The French fashion house took to Instagram on Thursday to announce the upcoming partnership: “After Sacai, @glennmartens from @yproject_official takes over our next Couture Show.”

The show is set to take place in January 2022.

“Jean Paul made everything seem possible,” Martens told Vogue. “He brought freedom of speech, freedom of sex, to fashion. And he worked with values—values, which are important and relevant to today.”

According to Business of Fashion, the Belgian-born designer was offered a junior designer role at Jean Paul Gaultier after finishing his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, catapulting his fashion career before he started his eponymous label in 2012. Martens has helmed Y/Project since founder Yohan Serfaty’s death in 2013 and took on the role of artistic director for Diesel in October 2020.
