COMME des GARÇONS HOMME Gives New Balance's 57/40 Its Blessing
Fitting it in an all-black and GORE-TEX-equipped look.

COMME des GARÇONS HOMME — and its subsidiaries — and New Balance have a long-standing partnership, having released eYe COMME des GARÇONS Junya Watanabe MAN 574s and CdGH 574s in just the past few months, and now the latter is back with its take on the 57/40.
As expected, the 57/40 adopts a blacked-out color scheme as per Rei Kawakubo‘s signature palette for her CdG brands. However, rather unexpectedly, is that the suede and ripstop mesh construction is covered in a layer of GORE-TEX, meaning that these don’t just look the part for the winter months that approach, but can actually cope with the demanding weather conditions as well.
GORE-TEX branding hits up the lateral rear-quarter just underneath the large “N” emblem on the mid-panel. More branding graces the tongue tab where CdGH, New Balance, and 57/40 monikers can be seen, while the “NB” logo has been etched into the suede on the heel. The branding is continued onto the insoles that reads COMME des GARÇONS HOMME between the two sides of the pair, subsequently rounding out the details on this sneaker.
The GORE-TEX lining is also found on the inside to further boost its all-weather credentials, but fear not, as the shoes are also designed to be breathable. They are slated to drop on October 1 at CdGH stockists, such as Dover Street Market, and are reported to cost around $365 USD.
In other news, Givenchy has dropped the daring Monumental Mallow shoe.
