'Microsoft Flight Simulator' Is Adding a Competitive Multiplayer Mode
The Volocopter eVTOL will also be making its debut.
In celebration of Gamescom 2021, Microsoft has announced a series of updates coming to hits highly regarded Microsoft Flight Simulator, including a competitive multiplayer mode.
Releasing a trailer (which you can view above) along with the announcement, Microsoft Flight Simulator has showcased an upcoming “major expansion” that’ll bring into the game an eight-player racing mode based on the Stihl National Championship Air Races. Players will get to fly various World War II-era planes through objective points, whizzing through the sky to outpace their fellow pilots while avoiding collisions.
Aside from a competitive multiplayer mode, Microsoft will also be adding additional content and planes into the game’s upcoming update. A Local Legends series will introduce planes famous to specific regions — which to begin with will focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland and involve the Junkers JU-52 — while a new futuristic eVTOL will also join the simulator, coming in the form of Volocopter’s VoloCity air taxi.
All three updates will arrive from September through to November.
