OAMC and adidas Introduce New Type O-9 Sneaker
Based off of the cult favorite Microbounce T1, a throwback running shoe from the ’00s.
Luke Meier‘s OAMC has a unique partnership with adidas: where most collaborative relationships consist of reworking existing models, OAMC and adidas Originals‘ efforts have always produced brand-new silhouettes — over a half dozen, to be exact. Now, as part of its FW21 collection, the partnership has readied another brand-new silhouette dubbed the Type O-9.
Inspired by adidas’ Microbounce technology from the ’00s —made famous by silhouettes like the Microbounce T1 — and the artist Robert Gober, the Type O-9 arrives in three colors: “Earth,” “Natural White” and “Asphalt.” All three styles boast a premium upper that’s made of supple crosta suede and classic polyester mesh. These two divergent materials are joined together by a thick line of double embroidery that runs from heel to toe, while the entire assemblage is bolstered by bulky TPU toe caps and heel clips, the former of which boasts tonal embossed branding. Down below, midsoles offer full-foot Microbounce cushioning and sleek rubber outsoles supply a finishing dash of timeless adidas Running style.
The OAMC x adidas Type O-9 collection is set to launch via the OAMC webstore and adidas’ online outposts on June 10. “Earth” and “Natural White” will be available at adidas’ global stockist network, while “Asphalt” is an OAMC exclusive.
