NFL Legends Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes to Star on 'Madden NFL 22' Cover
The game will introduce a number of new features.
Electronic Arts released the trailer for its upcoming Madden NFL 22 on Thursday, and revealed that NFL Super Bowl champions Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes will star on the cover of the new game.
Madden NFL 22, set to launch worldwide on August 20, introduces a new gameplay feature called Dynamic Gameday, which is powered by three new additions: Gameday Atmosphere, aimed at connecting players “to their NFL fandom through the crowds, environments and presentation elements;” Gameday Momentum, which offers performance-based mechanics to bring “the tangible influence of momentum to life on the field;” and Next Gen Stats: Star-Driven AI, which is powered by real-world player data that will evolve throughout the season, bringing the characters closer to real-life than ever before.
The game also expands on Franchise Mode, which allows players to feel more in control of their staff and teams, and has a revamped Season Engine “that keeps things fresh every week.” In addition, a new mode called The Yard “will feature an all-new single player campaign and avatar progression system that shares progress, rewards and vanity with Face of the Franchise.”
Madden first teased the new game earlier this week, hinting that it would be featuring two “GOATS,” referencing two of the greatest players of all time.

“This year’s game really captures the energy and unpredictability that you see on the field every Sunday and we’re excited for fans to experience it for themselves,” Brady said in a press release.
“This is only the second time two athletes have been on the cover together and we’re both eager for fans to dig into Dynamic Gameday which makes the game more immersive, authentic and keeps it fresh year-round,” Mahomes added.
Seann Graddy, Executive Producer of Madden NFL 22, said that this year’s edition brings game day elements to life.
“We’re always collecting feedback from our players to improve Madden NFL with each edition and in real time with our live service during the year. We’ll continue that approach this year, including doubling down on our commitment to Franchise, maintaining the momentum we started in Madden NFL 21, by delivering more of the top-requested Franchise features both at launch and throughout the season.”
Madden NFL 22 launches worldwide August 20 for PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Origin and Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. You can pre-order the game now at EA’s website.
