For fans of Katsuhiro Otomo‘s iconic 1982 manga/anime Akira, Funimation is now readying the release of a limited edition replica of Shōtarō Kaneda’s jacket. The authentic recreation of the signature outerwear was designed with meticulous attention to detail.

Limited to just 300 units, the licensed Akira jacket designed in Italy utilizes high-quality leather and is manufactured in Germany. Aside from analyzing over 50 hues of red to find the perfect shades, the jacket features functional clasps to recreate the unique closure and lining to faithfully deliver the fit seen in the manga and anime. It is interesting to note that the replica does not feature the capsule motif at the rear seen in the anime.

Priced at $450 USD, the limited edition Akira Kaneda Replica Jacket will be available for pre-order on Funimation’s website for North America only July 13.
