Converse and Alexis Sablone Uplift LGBTQ+ Voices with Limited-Edition Jack Purcell Collaboration

Hot on the heels of its sixth Pride collection, Converse continues to uplift queer voices, releasing a limited-edition Jack Purcell collaboration with professional skateboarder and member of the LGBTQ+ community, Alexis Sablone.
The collaboration marks the first time the label has revamped a performance sneaker with its full Pride treatment, seeding the subtle-yet-impactful Alexis Sablone Pride Jack Purcell Pro sneaker. For Sablone, who sports the inspired silhouette in the skate park, the goal with the shoe was simple: merge athleticism with intentional design to create a celebratory silhouette for the queer community.
The all-white, rubber-equipped leather silhouette features an all-encompassing Lambda pattern, a symbol once used by the LGBTQ+ community in 1970s to signal their queer identities.
Standing out amid the white upper is a heel tab boasting the “More Color, More Pride” flag, which social justice advocate Amber Hikes first conceptualized with additional black and brown stripes to stand in solidarity with queer people of color in 2017. Rainbow stripes find their way onto the the tongue and a sockliner reading “Pride,” while a transgender emblem receives a central embroidery on the tongue with a glowing yellow edge.
Converse’s Alexis Sablone Pride shoe will be available for purchase on the brand’s webstore beginning June 4 at a price of $85 USD.
