Audemars Piguet Adds Black Ceramic to Code 11.59 Chronograph
Does this mean a full-ceramic Code 11.59 could be on the cards?
Audemars Piguet continues to add depth to its Code 11.59 collection, this time with two automatic chronographs that bring together 18k gold and black ceramic elements.
The Code 11.59’s complex, modular 41m case design allows Audemars Piguet to more easily play around with the watch’s configuration in terms of a material and finishes. While the lugs, bezel and caseback of this pair of chronographs are machined from 18k white or pink gold, the central octagonal caseband is formed from horizontally brushed black ceramic.
This is reflected on the smoked dark grey dials of the chronographs, which have been vertically brushed for a matching satin effect with applied hour markers and hands in matching gold.
The arrival of the Code 11.59 in 2019 also marked the arrival of Audemars Piguet’s first in-house integrated chronograph movement in years. Here the 4Hz column wheel Calibre 4401 flyback chronograph movement has a power reserve of 70 hours and is water resistant to 30m, while an additional vertical clutch ensures the chronograph hands don’t jump when activated.
Audemars Piguet supplies the chronographs on black calfskin straps, rubber-lined and embossed with a woven fabric texture.
Both pink and white gold ceramic references are available via Audemars Piguet boutiques now, priced £41,200 GBP ($58,387 USD).
