Sony Releases Sleek New Colorways for PS5 DualSense Controller
Inspired by the vibrant hues of the galaxy.
Sony has released two new colorways for its DualSense wireless PlayStation 5 controller, set to hit shelves next month.
The first color, Midnight Black, features two complimentary black tones and light gray detailing, inspired by the way humans view space through the lens of the night sky. The second color, a vibrant Cosmic Red, offers a two-toned black and red design that symbolizes the vivid red shades found throughout the cosmos.
The new controllers will be available globally at select retailers starting next month, though the exact date will vary by location. The controller was previously released in white and black, which is available now and retails for $69.99 USD.
Leo Cardoso of Sony’s design team said in a blog post that the new colors are meant to compliment each other as well as the PS5 console. “We designed the colors around the theme of ‘galaxy’ as it felt like a natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs.”
The DualSense wireless controller features an impressive haptic feedback to in-game actions and dual actuators that replace the traditional rumble motors. These vibrations are meant to simulate a more natural feeling of environmental interaction and weapon recall. The device also comes with adaptive triggers, which allow users to feel more physically connected to on-screen actions.
Additionally, all controllers have a built-in microphone and headset jack, integrated speaker, a create button and lots of familiar features taken from the DUALSHOCK 4.
Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported that Sony‘s Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki recently told a group of analysts that delays to the PS5 restock will likely last until next year.
