Nike‘s Space Hippie line consists of four models made of “trash” — the Space Hippie 01, Space Hippie 02, Space Hippie 03 and Space Hippie 04 — the first three of which are appearing in a new “Photon Dust” pack. Though the shoes are indeed “trash” as they’re composed mostly of leftover materials and factory scraps, their build is in fact far more nuanced. Each Space Hippie model is made of at least 25% recycled content by weight with uppers crafted from “Space Waste Yarn,” which uses roughly 75% recycled polyester material produced from PET bottles, T-shirts, and thread waste — all atop renewable Crater Foam midsoles.

Here, the trio of models equip light gray “Photon Dust” tones on their stretchy knit uppers and supply a sail midsole flecked with rubber scraps. The 01 is centered around a large multicolored Swoosh and striking multicolor rope laces plus yellow eyestays and blue tongue/heel tabs. The laceless 02 features a similar multicolor Swoosh and blue tabs but adds a black gridded pattern for extra texture. Lastly, the high-cut 03 is centered around a blue and yellow FlyEase lacing system, and religates its multicolor detailing to a small toebox Swoosh and its heels.

The Nike Space Hippie 01, 02 and 03 “Photon Dust” will all arrive on Nike SNKRS JP come May 21. Prices range from $13-$180 USD.
