'Demon Slayer' Opening "Gurenge" Has Become Japan's Most Profitable Song in 2020

Riding on the immense popularity and success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the anime‘s opening song “Gurenge” by LiSA has now become the most profitable song in Japan in 2020.

The announcement came from the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers, which award LiSA’s 15th single with the Gold Award of the 39th JASRAC Awards. The awards take into account the share of royalties across distribution, karaoke, CMs as well as other platforms during the one-year period between April and March, with the Gold Award signifying the most profitable domestic song in Japan.

“I am very honored that this song has been loved for so long,” said LiSA after receiving the award. “I received the passionate love of many people involved from the original manga to the TV anime, and I searched for the words for this song while facing the ‘strength’ in my own heart. I hope that our story and theirs will continue to bloom strongly and proudly, like a lotus flower blooming beautifully on the surface of the water, transcending any kind of days.”
