Above The Clouds x ASICS SKYCOURT Is Inspired by Vintage Squash Shoes
And serves as the Skycourt’s first ever collaborative iteration.
After releasing a well-received GEL-1090 collaboration in 2020, Sidney-based retailer Above The Clouds and ASICS are working together again — prepping a squash shoe-inspired take on the SKYCOURT. As squash is intensely popular in Above The Clouds’ home country of Australia the shoe’s inspiration is undeniably fitting, and it also provides a milestone: it’s the first ever collaborative iteration of the SKYCOURT.
Squash is largely a no-frills sport, so the shoe’s upper stays true to this ethos with a simple white leather base and sandy suede overlays. Branding is kept to a minimum as well, with a miniature tonal Tiger Stripe on the quarter panel and a light green ASICS tag on the yellow exposed foam tongue.
More light green is used on the terry cloth-style collar lining, which sits above a yellow exposed foam collar that mirrors the tongue’s shade and material. A tonal Above The Clouds text logo is emblazoned on the heel, and white rubber midsoles round off the look.
The Above The Clouds x ASICS SKYCOURT will release via the Above The Clouds webstore come May 8, then hit global stockists May 15. Its MSRP has yet to be announced.
