Uber Could Launch Cannabis Delivery Service When Federal Laws Change
As revealed by CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
Uber may launch its own cannabis delivery service once federal laws allow it.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi shared the news in a recent CNBC TechCheck interview, stating, “When the road is clear for cannabis, when federal laws come into play, we’re absolutely going to take a look at it.” However, as their hands are legally tied at the moment, Uber will continue focusing on the opportunities surrounding grocery, food and alcohol deliveries.
Although cannabis is still illegal under federal law, Khosrowshahi’s statement arrives just after New York became one of 17 states to legalize recreational marijuana. As of writing, the states of California, Nevada and Oregon allow cannabis deliveries with no restrictions for residents 21 years old and above.
Elsewhere in tech, a new Apple device could combine the AppleTV, HomePod and a camera into one.
