This Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series Isn't for the Faint-Hearted
And it could be yours thanks to RM Sotheby’s.
For those who think a “standard” AMG-spec Mercedes-Benz is too tame, look no further than this CLK 63 AMG Black Series that’s heading to auction with RM Sotheby’s next month.
This 2008 model is one of 500 produced globally with just 349 U.S.-market examples being made in the car’s three-year-long run, and finds itself currently based in the States with just 8,100 miles on the clock. This lightly ran-in piece of precise German engineering features a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 500 HP that’s sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission.
As with all Black Series models (note, only six Black Series cars have ever been designed, namely the SLK 55 AMG Coupé, this CLK 63 AMG, the SL 65 AMG, the C 63 AMG, the SLS, and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series) this car is about as hard as Mercedes-Benz can get, everything is stiffened and pumped up to the max to offer the most visceral and dynamic driving experience as possible — unless you opt for something like the CLK DTM AMG.
Making this particular model even more hardcore are aftermarket tunes such as an engine tune, cat-back exhaust, cold air return, and lightweight rear brake rotors totaling costs of $15,000 USD. The seller says this adds around 25 HP on top of the stock 500 HP. Rounding out the car is its apt black on black exterior/interior finish with the carbon fiber accents detailing plenty of components inside and out.
