Brain Dead Reveals New Reebok Zig Kinetica II Capsule Inspired By Japanese Sofubi Kaiju Toys
Kyle Ng and the vector imprint whip up a duo of UFO-esque colorways.
Fresh off of its team-up with the hiking experts of ROA for a collaboration atop the Neal silhouette, Brain Dead is inserting itself back into the collaborative ring and revisiting its partnership with Reebok. Previously, the two parties have teamed up on retro silhouettes like the Pump Court, Beatnik and the Classic Leather, but the next project calls upon a more modern offering in the Zig Kinetica II.
The collaboration entails a duo of busy makeups including gray and black colorways, both of which are styled with UFO sensibility inspired by Japanese Sofubi Kaiju toys. The lighter-toned offering sees through to a mostly gray upper and comes decorated with swirly mid-foot patterns that contrast with a matte gold finish. Faint touches of lilac also spill onto the lace toggles and borders of the throat, in addition to orange stripes that poke out through the lace loops. Double stacked midsoles continue the vivid energy by alternating between orange tie-dye patterns up top and teal graphics down below.
Its launch counterpart gravitates towards the darker side of the color wheel as a majority of the mesh base is filled in with a stark black. Pastel green hues then apply to the mid-foot patterns followed by a foam yellow tongue and lilac stripes on the shoe string loops. Underneath, the midsoles color-block between a translucent heightened layer and a black speckled outsole.
