Nike Basketball Officially Reveals the KD 14
The strap is back.
Kevin Durant‘s signature lineup with Nike has taken on a wide array of design cues including that of mid-foot straps, low-cut models inspired by football cleats and even unorthodox variants with built-in socks like the KD 8. For the second half of the season, the two-time champion will be lacing up his next chapter with the Swoosh basketball category: the Nike KD 14.
The most enticing detail to call out about these court-ready kicks is the return of the strap — an element most notably associated with Durant’s previous Nike KD 4 and KD 7 silhouettes. Coupled with the strap is an Air Presto-inspired cage that rests on the medial panel. Elsewhere on the upper, the engineered mesh features intricately-styled graphics that are symbolic of the Nets’ All-Star’s interests such as art, music and more.
Down below, the kicks are bolstered with a full-length Zoom Air Strobel cushioning system that provides wearers with a low-to-the-ground and responsive feel.
“It’s been a while since we incorporated the strap, which excites me,” Durant states when speaking about his newest product. “My other favorite part about the shoe is the cushioning, which helps me feel low to the ground and still helps give me some of that energy back.”
The Nike KD 14 “Black/White” colorway with launch on April 10 globally, and on April 14 in North America. The model’s “Cyber” iteration will drop on April 11 exclusively in China.
