New Era's GORE-TEX PACLITE Series Continues Delivering Essential Spring Headgear
Lightweight protection against seasonal showers.
Picking right up where last year’s drop left off, New Era‘s Japanese branch is serving up another round of GORE-TEX headwear. Old favorites are back alongside some new styles, all of which sport bold, unmistakable branding.
All of the caps are elevated with a lining of GORE-TEX PACLITE, one of the lightest iterations of the weatherproofing tech, which opts for a lightweight, coated finish in place of the typical three-layer GORE-TEX membrane. Furthermore, the exterior of each cap is realized in polyester coated with water-repelling DWR, while the sweatband — the portion inside a hat that actually makes contact with the skin — is laden with MICROERA for antibacterial effect.
Tech aside, the caps are imagined in classic New Era form. There’s the flat-brim 59Fifty, curved 9Thirty and even the militaristic WM-01, all of which are realized in black. Furthermore, each is distinguished with bold white branding, either spelling out “NEW ERA,” “GORE-TEX” or both. There’s a pair of unexpected New York Yankees options and some styles that toy with logo placement, tacking the text onto the sides for a minimalist facade.
Each of the GORE-TEX PACLITE-infused caps is available on New Era Japan’s web store for ¥5,500 JPY to ¥8,580 JPY (approximately $50 to $80 USD) apiece.
Meanwhile, GORE-TEX recently pervaded the recent collections of Stüssy and Carhartt WIP.
