New Balance's Latest 57/40 Combines Black, Navy, Burgundy and More
Plus an elegant mix of suede and leather.

Through the first quarter of 2021, New Balance‘s lifestyle push has been centered around striking new silhouettes like the 237 and 57/40. It’s the latter of those that’s being discussed here, as it’s appeared in a sporty colorway that combines black, navy, burgundy and more.
Prior iterations of the 57/40 have tended to lean more towards the whimsical side: its launch styles boasted rainbow-colored accents, and a Valentine’s day pair was dressed entirely in shades of pink. However, this iteration moves back towards more classic NB schemes. Shaggy black suede appears on the heel piece, while black and blue nubuck meet on the forefoot. Toeboxes and collar details are done up in burgundy perforated leather and suede, respectively, while a large tan N provides the shoe’s centerpiece on the quarter.
This logo hit is surrounded by sport blue and white, while more navy graces the leather eyestays and collar. Sail suede appears on the heel, and black leather on the tongue. Tongue tags add a little extra branded flair on the outside and boast New Balance’s “The Intelligent Choice” motif on the inside. Double-stacked EVA foam midsoles and rubber outsoles round off the look.
NB fans will be able to add this 57/40 to their collection on March 13 via New Balance Japan. The MSRP is set at a tax-included ¥16,500 (approximately $152 USD).
