Marquette Basketball Shows Off Its Air Jordan 5 PE
The Golden Eagles are the latest collegiate squad to receive a special AJ5.
Jordan Brand has been rolling out special PE (player edition) styles of the Air Jordan 5 for the collegiate athletic programs it sponsors, and the latest school to get its own AJ5 is Marquette University. Though the Milwaukee, WI-based Golden Eagles’ sneaker is similar in build and branding to the Jumpman’s other Spring 2021 PEs for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners, it differs in one major way. Where the other schools Jordan Brand has crafted PEs for this spring all have football teams, Marquette doesn’t. Therefore, the Golden Eagles’ PE was made for the basketball team instead.
Dressed in Marquette’s signature mixture of navy and yellow shades, the shoe is centered around an upper constructed of rich blue elephant print leather. Signature mesh netting on the quarter and throat is left clear for contrast. Tongues supply a powder blue shade and boast Marquette’s MU badge in place of a standard Jumpman graphic. Yellow is used for trim on the collar and tongue, while also making its presence felt on the lace toggle. Down below, the midsole is done up in white with speckled yellow gracing its signature jagged peaks. Blue contrast stitching on the toe bumper and an icy blue outsole round off the look.
Marquette’s Air Jordan 5 PE will not release to the public, as it was created for Golden Eagles hoops team members and staff. However you can check it out both above and below, and potentially catch it on the players’ feet if Marquette qualifies for this year’s March Madness tournament.
