GALL FW21 Explores Experimental Shapes and Dyes
A technical assortment of richly-treated, customizable cold weather gear.
“Nydia,” the Fall/Winter 2021 collection from low-key technical apparel label GALL, “is dedicated to ones personal realm.” This sense of intimacy is realized by way of heavily-treated fabrics that wrap the body, protecting against the outside world.
Offered in monochrome shades and stark olive tones alike, GALL’s latest collection is another rich spread of technical textiles — nylons, stretch cottons — and organic materials — Italian wool, mohair, cotton canvas — alike, uniting the disparate mediums through proportional experimentation. Cropped puffer jackets, form-fitting blazers and tight base layers are layered amidst voluminous cargo pants, vests insulated with recycled down and asymmetric jackets that enshroud the torso.
Graphic dyes grace a digitally-transferred iteration of founder Justin Gall’s own artwork, ensuring that none of the splattered layers are exactly alike. Accessorized with technical backpacks — complete with charging capabilities — and face-obscuring gaiters, the looks stride the middle ground between futuristic militaria and trek gear, ideal for a multitude of applications.
