COMME des GARÇONS PLAY and Converse Unveil a Duo of Jack Purcell Collaborations
Marking the first time that Rei Kawakubo’s fashion label has worked on the silhouette in a decade.
COMME des GARÇONS PLAY and Converse have been longstanding collaborators when it comes to footwear, some of the most notable offerings being the CDG PLAY x Chuck 70 His and Lows. For the Spring season, the two parties have elected to reconnect for a brand new sneaker initiative that involves two takes atop the classic Jack Purcell, making for the first time that the Rei Kawakubo‘s entity has worked on the silhouette in a decade.
Like the two imprint’s previously seen lifestyle propositions, the majority of the real estate on both takes are reliant on neutral tones. Canvas materials that build out the uppers are each clad with a “Drizzle” backdrop and come complemented with “Egret” shoe laces and rubber toe caps. Additionally, both pairs are fittingly adorned with CDG‘s heart-and-eyes logos along the heels and side paneling, one pair sporting them in black and the other, in red. The accenting tripes that latch onto the midsoles also color coordinate with the hue of the logos on the base layer.
Elsewhere on these low-profile options, you’ll find the rubber midsoles and chevron-patterned treading to follow suit with “Egret” skins.
This COMME des GARÇONS PLAY x Converse Jack Purcell capsule is set to release globally on April 1, 2021 via Dover Street Market and Converse. Retail price is set at $140 USD.
