The adidas Cord Is the Perfect Shoe to Wear With Corduroy Trousers
No, seriously — that’s what it was originally designed for.

When you look back into the adidas archives, the cult classic Cord holds a special place. Originally designed to be worn with — you guessed it — corduroy trousers, the Cord made a bold statement at the time of its original release: it was the rare athletic shoe crafted with a lifestyle purpose in mind. Though that ethos is commonplace today it certainly wasn’t when the Cord first released, and made for a design that was ahead of its time. Now, the Cord is back and it’s sporting a stately “Auburn/Mesa/Brown” colorway.
Crafted from dark brown suede, uppers boast a low profile and a T-shaped toe overlay that channels the famed Samba. A peanut butter brown suede provides contrast on the midfoot’s Three Stripe graphic and the heel tab, and a gold foil “Cord” hit is stamped on the lateral quarter as well. Brown suede tongues continue the trim assemblage and a peanut butter leather collar liner provides a premium feel. Down below, dark brown EVA midsoles and gum rubber outsoles with a unique traction pattern complete the look.
The adidas Cord “Auburn/Mesa/Brown” is set to release at retailers like Hanon on February 24, and is priced at £80 GBP (approximately $112 USD).
