Ariana Grande Extends the Valentine's Day Spirit with 'Positions' Deluxe
The new additions embrace the best of the album: flirty wordplay and self-possessed joy.

Ariana Grande has released a deluxe version of Positions, just over a month since she started teasing out its release with a “34 + 35” remix which tapped Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion. This extended follow-up to the artist’s sixth studio album features the remix along with four new tracks: “someone like u,” “test drive,” “worst behavior” and “main thing.”
The tracks stay within the bounds of Positions‘s original 14-tracks but tend towards its more lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek moments. “worst behavior” and “test drive” are sprinkled with flirtatious double-entendres and self-possessed assurances that it’s good to be bad. Slower moments arrive on the “someone like you” interlude and at the album’s close on “main thing.” But even on this final track, Grande delivers a bouncy R&B rock to cradle the head-over-heels lyrics.
This deluxe album caps several months of record-breaking response to Positions. Its titular single “Positions” was the artist’s third number-one debut in 2020 alongside “Rain on Me” and “Stuck With U,” making her the first artist in Billboard history to achieve the feat. And when Positions took Billboard’s top 200 first seed, Grande became fastest woman to accumulate three number-one studio albums, cinching the title in under two years and three months.
Grande’s extended edition of the Positions also made HYPEBEAST’s list of the best new tracks this week. Check out the full rundown for more from Kodak Black and Lil Yachty, serpentwithfeet, and KAYTRANADA.
