COMME DES GARÇONS PLAY Drops Minimalist Nike Collaboration
More of the same or cleverly simple?

Teased earlier this week, COMME DES GARÇONS PLAY has now introduced the latest edition of its Dover Street Market-exclusive “Play Together” series. After roping in The North Face for the first venture, CdG PLAY has gotten Nike‘s co-sign, as evidenced by a jointly-branded hoodie.
Central to the affair is that aforementioned hoodie, realized in a grey cotten melange with white drawstrings and finished with those all-important logos. A Swoosh and Filip Pągowski-designed CdG PLAY heart grace the front, while the heart is alone on the rear. Unfortunately for fans of the Beaverton-based sportswear brand, the hoodie is its only contribution to this edition of “Play Together,” as the other three pieces — a matching hoodie, white T-shirt and striped shirt — keep things simple with a black “CdG” and that unmistakable red heart.
With the new “Play Together” series and recent “Family Guys” editorial, COMME DES GARÇONS appears to be pushing its affordable PLAY imprint even harder, with more adventurous offerings and promotion thrown at the sub-label. Of course, there’s also the consistent restocks of those ultra-popular Converse collaborations, which was CdG PLAY’s first step towards a proper Nike collaboration (for those unaware, The Swoosh owns Converse).
The special “Play Together” shirt, hoodies and T-shirts are exclusively available in-store and via Dover Street Market Ginza’s web store for ¥8,800 JPY, ¥23,100 JPY and ¥24,200 JPY, respectively (approximately $84 USD, $218 USD and $229 USD).
There is, of course, much more in store for COMME DES GARÇONS and Nike this year, including those headline-worthy Air Foamposite One sneakers.
